Gunmen were said to have invaded the students’ off campus residence at about 10:30pm and abducted them.

The state police command ‘s public relations officer, DSP Nansel Ramhan, who confirmed the incident, said security agencies have launched a manhunt with a view to rescuing the students.

“The command is aware of the kidnapping at about 12:55am as a distress call was received that a house located at Aangwan kaare, Keffi was invaded by unidentified armed men. The police in collaboration with the military, responded accordingly and combed the area, but to no avail.

In a related development in Kogi State, gunmen also kidnapped an Islamic cleric, Alfa Fasasi Ola Mejabi and his younger brother.

The cleric and others were conveying the corpse of the chief Imam of Ayegunle Gbede, Sheikh Musa Olorunkemi, from Lokoja on Sunday, when they ran into the kidnappers.

They were taking the late chief Imam’s corpse to Ayegunle Gbede in Ijumu local government of Kogi State for burial.

One of the occupants of the car who escaped abduction told LEADERSHIP that the incident occurred in Oshokoshoko, along Lokoja-Obajana-Kabba road.

A source told LEADERSHIP that the victims’ telephone lines had been switched off, but added the kidnappers made contact with the family on Monday morning demanding for N10 million ransom.
