chieftain of the Ohanaeze Youth Council, (OYC) Comrade Igboayaka Igboayaka has been abducted and whisked to an unknown destination by yet-to-be-identified gunmen in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

An eyewitness account revealed that the gunmen numbering about seven (7), and dressed in black attires, ambushed their captive within the Owerri municipality.

President of Igbo National Council (INC), Chilos Godsent on Sunday, confirmed that Igboayaka was abducted on Saturday evening.

“On Saturday, 8th February 2025, at about 7pm, we heard the sad news that gunmen dressed in black and numbering up to seven arrived in a Sienna and a Lexus SUV and forcefully ‘arrested’ the President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) – Comrade Igboayaka. O. Igboayaka in a Neo-mafia Gestapo manner at Works Layout, Owerri, Imo State,” Godsent said.

He added that attempts by the members of the Council, his family members, friends and associates to reach him through his mobile lines to ascertain his whereabouts have failed as all his mobile lines were switched off immediately after he was abducted.

He called on the Imo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, to immediately swing into action to identify the gunmen, and make them public.

“The Igbo National Council INC notes that his followers, family, friends and associates have been thrown into confusion since the ugly incident and would like to know his whereabouts soonest,” Godsent said.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Imo State Command, Henry Okoye said he was yet to be briefed about the incident.
