Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has conducted intensive training sessions for Nigerian Hajj officials on pilgrim management, safety, and emergency response ahead of the 2026 Hajj exercise.

The engagement, held on Monday, brought together officials of the Saudi ministry, representatives of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), and members of state pilgrims welfare boards.

During the programme, Saudi authorities emphasized strict adherence to identification protocols, urging officials to ensure that all pilgrims consistently carry their Nusuk cards while moving within the Kingdom to avoid security-related complications.

They explained that the Nusuk card serves as a mandatory permit for both local and international pilgrims and also plays a critical role in tracking and assisting missing pilgrims during peak congestion periods.

The training also featured simulation exercises designed to prepare Nigerian officials for medical emergencies and other critical situations that may arise during the peak Hajj period in the Mashair.

Responding, NAHCON Chairman, Ismail Yusuf, represented by his Technical Assistant, Ishaq Ja’e, described the exercise as a vital collaboration that would enhance preparedness for the 2026 pilgrimage.

He commended the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for bringing stakeholders together and providing practical simulations to strengthen operational readiness.

Participants also expressed optimism that early coordination and training would improve coordination, safety, and overall outcomes of the 2026 Hajj operations.
