Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, has unveiled a broad agenda to attract investment, expand opportunities for businesses and young people, and transform Lagos into Africa’s safest mega-city.
Hamzat, who spoke at a gathering of about 150 young executives, entrepreneurs, investors and business leaders in Ikoyi, Lagos, also unveiled his “Digital Lagos 2.0” vision, which seeks to deploy artificial intelligence, blockchain and smart-city technologies in transforming governance and positioning the state as a leading technology hub.

He said the next phase of development in Lagos would require greater emphasis on innovation, infrastructure, education, healthcare, security and support for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
“The next chapter for Lagos is going to be about building on the progress we have already made and taking the state to a new level of innovation, inclusion and infrastructure.
“We must establish Lagos as a leading centre for education, strengthen healthcare delivery, create more opportunities for our young people and MSMEs, and make Lagos the safest mega-city in Africa.
“Our ambition is to make Lagos a place where people and businesses can thrive and where the systems of government work more efficiently for everyone,” Hamzat said.
The deputy governor made the remarks at a private dinner hosted by 7-Fifteen Capital, a luxury real estate development company, under the theme, “Lagos: The Next Chapter.”
The gathering provided a platform for Hamzat to engage directly with members of the private sector on the challenges confronting businesses and the opportunities available to accelerate economic growth in the state.
Unveiling the Digital Lagos 2.0 initiative, Hamzat said emerging technologies would play a central role in improving the efficiency of government and strengthening Lagos’ position as a technology and investment destination.
He also fielded questions from participants during a fireside conversation that touched on sustainability, town planning, tourism, the creative economy and public-private partnerships.
The interaction gave business leaders an opportunity to raise issues affecting their operations and seek clarification on how the proposed development agenda would address some of the challenges facing businesses and residents.
Speaking on the initiative, the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of 7-Fifteen Capital, Tope Adekoya, said the company brought the business community and public leadership together to encourage direct engagement on the future of Lagos.
“Lagos is home to an increasingly influential community of young founders and business leaders who are creating opportunities and contributing meaningfully to the city’s growth.
“This evening was an opportunity to bring that community together with public leadership, create space for direct conversation and hear from the people who are actively shaping Lagos’s next chapter.
“The depth and openness of the conversation showed that there is a real appetite for this kind of engagement, and we are pleased that we achieved what we set out to do with this evening,” Adekoya said.
Also speaking, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of 7-Fifteen Capital, Adesuwa Belo-Osagie, said private-sector participation would be critical to shaping the future of Lagos.
“As we expand our presence in Lagos, we recognise that our responsibility goes beyond financial investment and property development.
“The next chapter of Lagos will be written collectively by public servants, businesses and private citizens who care enough to participate in shaping it.
“We want to be part of that process. For us, that means being a positive force in this community, supporting the ideas, people, conversations and initiatives that can contribute to a better quality of life.
“A better Lagos is the goal, and we want the measure of our presence here to be the positive contribution we make towards achieving it,” she said.
The event also featured networking among participants and presentations on 7-Fifteen Capital’s real estate developments in Lagos and Abuja.
