Emir of Bauchi, Dr Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, has paid an unscheduled visit to some markets in Bauchi metropolis to ascertain sales of commodities, especially grains.

During the visit on Sunday, the emir went round the Wunti Market, Muda Lawal and weekly village markets at Durun where he interacted with some businessmen and traders to identify the prices of some commodities.

Adamu, who is the state chairman of Council of Emirs, familiarised with the people during the visit and urged the businessmen to subsidize the prices of commodities to reduce the difficulties encountered among the people at this period of economic meltdown.

The monarch also visited sellers of rice, maize and corn among others and counselled them on adequate weight measures.

Adamu who bought commodities such as grains, vegetables and beef, among others, further advised the traders to sell at affordable rates.

The emir assured the traders that he would continue to undertake such routine and unscheduled visits to ensure that they are fair and just to their customers.

The traders while responding to the visit of the emir, commended him for what they described as leadership by example, saying the visit is memorable and a rare opportunity, especially among traditional leaders.

They pledged their continued loyalty to the Bauchi Emirate Council under the leadership of the emir.
