Host nation Morocco delivered a commanding performance to defeat Cameroon 2-0 in a captivating 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) quarterfinal match, booking their place in the semifinals on Friday night.

The Atlas Lions, backed by a fervent home crowd, showcased their attacking prowess and defensive solidity to overcome a resilient but ultimately outmatched Cameroonian side.

The breakthrough came in the 26th minute when Brahim Díaz found the back of the net, finishing from close range after a corner kick situation. The goal ignited the stadium and set the tone for Morocco’s control of the game. Cameroon attempted to rally, but struggled to create clear-cut opportunities against a well-organised Moroccan defense.

As the second half progressed, Morocco continued to press for a second goal to solidify their lead. Their efforts were rewarded in the 74th minute when Ismael Saibari struck with a left-footed shot from inside the box, effectively sealing the victory for the hosts.

Cameroon made several substitutions in an attempt to change the dynamic of the match, bringing on attacking players like Georges-Kévin N’Koudou and Frank Magri. Despite some late pressure and a couple of corners, they were unable to breach the Moroccan defense.
