Village sources hinted that the woman who was the second wife of the deceased killed her husband following a fight they had earlier.

It was gathered that Fatima married her husband about three years ago, and she was yet to have a child with him, whereas the first wife had just given birth.

Given the developments, the village sources added that the issue of lack of children between them has always caused fights, one of which happened a day before she killed her husband.

It was learnt that Fatima had told the villagers that she had killed her husband and dumped his body in a nearby bush because he had beaten her the night before, and she had decided to take revenge, unknowingly that he would die.

The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, Wasiu Abiodun Abiodun, confirmed the incident and the arrest of Fatima as the suspect.

The PPRO further stated, “The corpse was taken to general hospital Bida for post-mortem while the suspect was taken to custody. She will soon be transferred to SCID Minna for further investigation and prosecution”.
