How Failed Business Made Me To Attempt Suicide

Nigerian comedian Anita Afoke Asuoha, popularly known as RealWarriPikin has revealed that she attempted to commit suicide in 2018.

The stand-up comedian and actress made this revelation on Tuesday via a post on her official Instagram handle in commemoration of the September 10 World Suicide Prevention Day.

Asuoha narrated that following the counsel of a motivational speaker, she ventured into different means of making money with her husband, Ikechukwu Asuoha.

She added that trying different ‘things’ landed her family into a N22 million naira debt, making her to attempt taking her life.

Narrating her experience in Pidgin English, she said, “I tried suicide so you don’t have to, in 2018 June 6, 3pm to be precise I attempted suicide, I gave up on life because the burden was too much. Life just dey hit me left right and center, life dey turn me round like barber chair. And I felt like the only way to escape is to end the pain.

“2017 one motivational speaker jump like monkey come tell me and husband say you have been there for too long.

“Na so we chuck our hand for different things we come land for N22 million debt,” She narrated.

She added that if not for the intervention of her neighbour, she would have successfully taken her life.

LEADERSHIP recalls that in June 2024, Asuoha recounted her journey through a weight loss surgery she underwent a year ago citing depression and life risk as reasons.
