Hrgovic Says Experience Will Beat Itauma In IBF Title fight

Filip Hrgovic insists he remains unfazed by the hype surrounding Moses Itauma and is confident his experience will secure victory when the pair meet for the vacant IBF world title at London’s O2 Arena on August 29.

Speaking to DAZN ahead of the bout, the 34-year-old Croatian heavyweight acknowledged that many have written him off against the 14-0 British prodigy but said adversity has forged a stronger will in him.

“I know the boxing world write me off in this fight, like he’s new Mike Tyson, young kid, young destroyer, but I believe in myself, and this is the biggest fight of my life, and it’s in the right moment,” Hrgovic said.

“I’m just 34, a lot of experience, a lot of energy, a lot of power, a lot of everything. So, I’m happy with this fight, and I’ll beat him.”

Hrgovic argued that Itauma’s rapid rise has not tested him the way his own career has, claiming the young Briton has had “everything handed to him on the table.”

Reviewing footage of his opponent, he outlined a strategy to neutralise Itauma’s feinting and counter his attacks with jabs, body shots, and calculated power punches.

Itauma, whose professional record stands unblemished, has said his motivation remains unchanged regardless of the belt now at stake.
