Former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, has said he did not leave the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that the party rather abandoned him and his supporters in Delta State.

Omo-Agege made the remark during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Wednesday, where he spoke on his political trajectory and the state of the APC in Delta.

According to him, the party’s structure in the state effectively left him and more than 240,000 of his supporters, a situation he said informed his current political realignment.

“I never left the APC, the APC left me and left my over 240,000 supporters in Delta State,” he said.

Despite the political rift, Omo-Agege maintained that his stance on major economic reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu remains unchanged.

He defended the removal of fuel subsidy and the flotation of the naira, describing both policies as necessary reforms he has consistently supported.

He argued that the economic measures were not unique to the current administration, noting that similar policy ideas had been advocated by other political figures, including former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.

Omo-Agege stressed that while the reforms were necessary, their success would depend on proper implementation and public trust in government policy direction.

He added that effective execution, rather than the policies themselves, would determine their impact on Nigerians and the broader economy.
