I Don’t Earn €37m Annually In Barca – De Jong

Barcelona midfielder, Frenkie de Jong, has denied reports that he earns €37m a year at the LaLiga club.
De Jong also rubbished claims that he refused to have surgery on his ankle.

The Dutchman suffered the injury during a league fixture against Celta Vigo in September 2023.
This was the start of a tough spell for De Jong who went on to pick up two more knocks in the same area.
In an interview with BarcaOne, De Jong addressed some of the information that made its way into public domain.

“Throughout my recovery I have chosen to stay silent” he said.

“It is not true that the club told me I had to have an operation, and I didn’t want one.

“Because everyone at the club, the doctors and myself all agreed that surgery was not the best option.

“It has been very frustrating for a player who lives and breathes football to be out of action for another lengthy period.”
