Popular Nollywood actress, Biodun Okeowo, known as Omoborty, has shared her emotional journey as a single mother to encourage other single parents following her son’s graduation from Concordia University of Edmonton in Canada.

In a heartfelt post shared on her social media page, the actress stated that the late nights, heavy financial bills, and years of silent sacrifices were completely worth it.

Okeowo urged single parents who are raising children alone not to grow weary or give up on their family goals, stressing that no genuine sacrifice is ever in vain.

The movie star stated that she had to drastically cut down on attending social events and parties to save every available fund for her son’s international school fees, which she noted require strict financial planning.

She also disclosed that there were difficult moments when she had to sell off her personal gold jewellery to ensure her son’s tuition was paid on time, recalling periods of emotional breakdown where both she and her son cried during video calls due to the heavy financial burden.

Addressing public misconceptions, Okeowo explained that people often wrongly assume that anyone who sends a child to study abroad is financially comfortable. She noted that social media platforms only show glamour, while individuals’ heavy private responsibilities remain hidden online.

She added that she funded her son’s education entirely through hard work and personal sacrifice, rather than depending on public donations or borrowing money.
