Singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has opened up about a humiliating experience she faced in the early days of her career, revealing that she was booed during a school performance.

Speaking in an interview with Big Boy TV, the Grammy-winning artiste recalled how she had expected a warm reception as an up-and-coming act but was instead met with rejection.
“I remember one time I was going to perform at my school as an up-and-coming singer, and I thought I was going to receive a standing ovation,” she said. “But I got booed. They even threw plastic bottles at me.”

The ‘Crazy Tings’ crooner said the incident was one of several early challenges she encountered while trying to establish herself in the music industry.

According to her, some of the resistance she faced may have stemmed from her decision to remain original rather than perform covers or adopt more familiar sounds, as many of her peers did at the time.

Despite the setback, Tems said she remained resolute in pursuing her music career, a determination that has since earned her global acclaim.

Meanwhile, the singer has dismissed speculations of a collaboration with rapper Odumodublvck after a video surfaced online showing both artistes in a studio.

The clip, which also featured Tems’ manager, sparked social media conversations about a possible joint project. However, her manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi, clarified that there is no collaboration in the works, explaining that Tems only paid a casual visit to the studio and was not there to record music
