I Will Ensure Access To Affordable Housing In Benue – Alia

Benue State governor, Hyacinth Alia, has initiated the takeover of housing projects constructed under the National Housing Programme of the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to address housing deficit in the state.

Governor Alia said his intervention was to provide affordable housing for the people of the state with the over 116 housing units built by the federal government.

While inspecting the facilities at Tse Ukpahar, behind Welfare Quarters, Makurdi, Governor Alia said his administration was committed to ensuring that every Benue citizen has access to decent and affordable housing.

He said the houses will be completed and made available to Benue residents at affordable rates, thus bringing hope to many who have been struggling with housing challenges.

The governor revealed that his administration is partnering with the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) to provide mortgage facilities for public and civil servants alike to obtain these houses when they are put up for sale.

The technical adviser to the Governor on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication, Chief Solomon Iorpev, in a statement, explained that the takeover was part of the government’s efforts to revitalise such projects in the state and stimulate economic growth.

“The state government will invest in completing the facilities, creating jobs and opportunities for locals.

“This initiative marks a significant step towards addressing Benue State’s housing needs, demonstrating Governor Alia’s dedication to improving the lives of citizens,” Iorpev stated.
