Residents of Ibadan, Oyo State capital, on Monday, carried out a protest to convey their grievances over alleged plans by the state government to acquire more lands for the Ibadan Circular Road corridor.

Our correspondent reports that the protesting residents, largely from Ido, Lagelu, Ona Ara, Akinyele, Oluyole and Egbeda areas called on the Governor Seyi Makinde-led government to maintain the 150 metres already marked by the initiator of the project, former Governor Rashidi Ladoja, the current Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The group of protesters, currently at Iwo Road area of the city, blocked access in and out of the area, which is one of the major transport hub in Ibadan.

The blockage has caused serious traffic snarl in that area.

Similarly, another group of protesters laid siege on the entrance to Agodi Government Secretariat bearing placards with different inscriptions.
