IBB Varsity Matriculates 6,072 Students

Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU),  Lapai has matriculated 6,072 students for its 17th regular,  part-time and long vacation programmes for the 2023/2024 academic session.

The vice chancellor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu, made the disclosure during the ceremony at the main campus in Lapai, yesterday.

He said the number was part of the 7,979 applications received for admission into the undergraduate programmes of the university this year.

Adamu advised the new students to abide by the rules and regulations as  contained  in their matriculating oath.

He urged the students to be committed to their studies while warning against involvement in any kind of social vices like drug abuse, cultism, sexual harassment and exam malpractices.

While urging them to participate in all lawful activities in the institution, the vice chancellor assured of a better welfare package for students and staff.

He enumerated some of his achievements aimed at  enhancing teaching and learning to include; NUC accreditation and taking off of the college of health sciences, affiliation with other schools and  construction of hostels to accommodate over 300 students.

Niger State governor Mohammed Umar Bago who was represented by the commissioner for tertiary education, Abdullahi Adamu Mamagi, promised continued prioritisaton of education in addition to payment of scholarships to state indigenes to encourage excellence.
