The Oba Awurela Agbaaye Obatala, Dr Ifayomi Oba Edu Jogbodo Orunmila, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to deepen collaboration with traditional institutions in efforts to curb rising insecurity across the country.
Speaking with journalists at his temple in Arigbajo, Ogun State, yesterday, Oba Edu stated that Nigeria’s worsening security challenges necessitate a blend of modern approaches and indigenous knowledge rooted in cultural heritage.
He noted that ancestral practices, including communal vigilance, spiritual rites and adherence to traditional principles, played vital roles in safeguarding communities in the past and still hold relevance today.
He added that honouring the gods of the land and performing necessary rites would help foster peace, harmony and improved security nationwide.
Oba Edu also assured President Tinubu of divine guidance, urging Nigerians to remain prayerful and united as the government addresses national concerns.
On the economy, he commended the president’s policy direction, describing it as the right path toward sustainable recovery. He encouraged citizens to support ongoing reforms and remain optimistic about the nation’s future.
