Inspector-general of police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has condoled with the families, government and people of Kebbi State on the demise of 10 policemen, two civilians during an encounter with bandits in Rafin Makuku village in Sakaba local government area.

The IG dispatched a high-powered delegation led by the deputy inspector-general of police (Operations), Umar Shehu Nadada, to Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday to deliver his heartfelt condolences.

At the Government House, Nadada informed the governor that the delegation was in Kebbi on the IG’s instructions to console him over the death of the 10 brave police officers and two civilians.

“He mandated me to be here to commiserate with the deceased families, the government and people of Kebbi State,” Nadada said.

“Police are doing their best with other security services to protect life and property, though we have a vacuum, it will be filled as a result of these losses of our policemen,” he added.

The DIG said the IG had approved an additional Squadron for Kebbi, which will take off soon to address security challenges across the state. He, however, assured the governor that the Force Headquarters would forge ahead to trace the attackers and bring them to book.
