IGP Orders AIG Zone 4’s Relocation To Plateau

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, on Friday directed the immediate deployment of tactical teams, equipment, and the relocation of AIG Zone 4 to Plateau State.

This directive was disclosed in a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Friday through his official X account.

“IGP Arrives Jos, to meet governor, stakeholders As he orders deployment of tactical teams, equipment, Orders relocation of AIG Zone 4 to Plateau State with immediate effect,” the statement read.

The development comes in the wake of attacks by bandits on various communities in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State, resulting in numerous fatalities and the destruction of properties.

LEADERSHIP had earlier reported that the attacks lasted approximately 48 hours, claiming the lives of over 150 villagers and displacing more than 10,000 individuals.

The affected areas encompassed Ruku, Hurum, Darwat, Mai Yanga Sabo, NTV villages in Gashish, and Ropp Districts within Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, as well as areas in Bokkos LGA.
