The Inspector-General of police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has ordered a massive deployment to Plateau State after the deadly attack that claimed many lives recently.

He also condemned the recent attack in Angwan Rukuba, located in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

In a statement by the Force PRO, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, he noted that, in response to the incident, the IGP ordered a massive deployment of security personnel and assets to the affected area to restore calm and ensure the arrest of those responsible for the attack.

Further measures include the deployment of additional tactical teams, Police Mobile Force units, and intelligence operatives, working in collaboration with other security agencies, to address security challenges and prevent further breakdown of law and order.

The IGP also extended his condolences to the governor of Plateau State, the people of the state, and particularly the families of victims and residents of the Angwan Rukuba community over the tragic incident.

Earlier, after the attack, the IGP had deployed the deputy inspector-general of police in charge of operations, DIG Umar Shehu Nadada, to assess the situation on the ground, coordinate ongoing efforts, and reinforce the state’s security architecture.

The IGP assured that sustained operations would continue until normalcy is fully restored.

He also directed all operational commanders to ensure increased visibility of policing and proactive engagement with vulnerable communities.

While urging residents to remain calm and vigilant, the IGP called on the public to cooperate with security agencies, avoid taking the law into their own hands, and promptly report any suspicious activities to relevant authorities.
