IGP Urges Support To End Kidnapping

Inspector-general of police (IGP), Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, has solicited for cooperation and support for the police to enable them combat crime and criminalities in Ogun State and Nigeria at large.
Egbetokun made the call yesterday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital when he meet with stakeholders during his three-day working visit to the state.

The IG, who pledged to tame the rising incidences of kidnapping in Ogun, promised that the Force would not hesitate to implement needed strategies to stop kidnapping in Ogun.

“The issue of kidnapping despite the high number of checkpoints along the road and that the border areas are still porous, I want to assure that we are going to address that challenge,” he said.
“Whatever we need to do to stop kidnapping in Ogun state, we are going to do it. The fact that there are few crimes being committed here and there does not affect the peaceful status of Ogun state.

Egbetokun, who arrived in the command’s headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, in company of the assistant inspector-general (AIG) zone ll, Olatoye Durosimi and the state commissioner of police, Abiodun Alamutu, charged officers of the command to step up their efforts in fighting crime in the state.
