Ihonvbere, Muktar, Others Honoured For Leadership, Philanthropy

Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Julius Ihonvbere, several lawmakers and organisations have received awards for their exemplary leadership and humanitarian contributions.

The recognition, presented at a high-profile ceremony in Abuja, highlighted their roles in advancing legislative reforms, community development, and poverty alleviation amid the country’s ongoing economic challenges.

The awards, tagged the ’10th National Assembly Award Dinner Ceremony’ (2nd Edition), were held recently at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja and were powered by MLN Nigeria Limited.

The ceremony was organised to celebrate lawmakers, parliamentary staff and other patriotic Nigerians for their contributions to national development.

Ihonvbere emerged the night’s biggest winner, clinching both the Best Lawmaker of the Year and the Most Outstanding House Leader of the Decade awards. Hon. Muhammad MuKtar – Zannan Kazaure, was honoured with the Most Outstanding in Constituency Project Delivery award.

Several other members of the House of Representatives were also recognised for excellence in constituency project delivery. They included the deputy House Leader, Rt Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims; Hon. Adefuranye Ayodele Festus; Hon. Ibe Okwara Osonwa; Hon. Mrs. Ogbara Adetola Kalifat; Hon. Eze Nwanchukwu Eze, and Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi.

Senator Wadada was similarly honoured in the same category.

Parliamentary aides and institutions were not left out. Elizabeth Godwin Effiong was named Most Outstanding Senior Legislative Aide of the Year.

The Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) won the Best TV Station of the Decade award, while High Chief Godspower Aburu received the Best Philanthropist of the Year award.

In the corporate category, Linury Construction and Maintenance Company was recognised as Best Facility Company of the Year for its work on the National Assembly complex. United Bank for Africa (UBA) was named Best Bank of the Year in Service Delivery, with its branch manager, Mrs May Ikhile, also decorated as Most Outstanding Branch Manager of the Year. Premium Trust Bank received an Award of Excellence as the Fastest Growing Bank.

Wife of the Senate President, Mrs Ekaete Akpabio, was also conferred with an Award of Excellence.

Speaking during the event, the convener, Uko Miracle, urged lawmakers and honourees to sustain their efforts, saying their performance and impact would “speak for them” in the long run.

Directors, clerks and other staff of the National Assembly were also recognised and treated to a dinner party, during which speakers stressed unity, effective service delivery and the importance of constituency project implementation.
