Benue State governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has said he will never cede any part of Benue land to herders, vowing that his administration would defeat insecurity.
Governor Alia, who stated this while addressing the people of Katsina-Ala, Ukum, and Logo Local Government Areas in Katsina-Ala during the thank-you tour, said his administration would defeat the insecurity ravaging some parts of the state.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for establishing and siting the Nigeria Army 5 Division in Benue state.
According to Governor Alia, “Benue will defeat insecurity. I will never cede any part of Benue land to herdsmen”, he maintained.
Earlier, former Governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam, who accompanied the governor on the tour, described the administration of Governor Alia as one that was delivering on its promises to the people of the state.
Suswam expressed confidence that the Alia administration’s ongoing infrastructure projects would extend development to every part of the state, while pledging the Sankera people’s continued support for Governor Alia’s re-election.
In his remarks, the first class chief of Sankera intermediate area, Tor Sankera, His Royal Highness, David Sevav, appealed to Governor Alia to resuscitate the waterworks serving the area and increase appointments for Sankera indigenes, adding that the residents would reciprocate the gestures with block votes in the 2027 elections.
