Ikeja residents in Lagos State have lauded the official flagging-off of the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ Ramadan Food Palliatives to support both Muslims and Christians and this fasting period.

Mr Abisola Omisore, the Vice Chairman Ikeja Local Government Area in Lagos State, who distributed the palliatives to the residents, thanked President Bola Tinubu’s kind gestures to the residents at tthis fasting period.

Omisore said that the initiative was brought to the people through the office of the President to support the masses during the fasting period.

“This initiative is being brought up by the office of the Mr President Bola Tinubu, for the people in his ward, to show a sign of commitment and at the same time to tell them they are not being forgotten and he is ready to do more for them.

“President Tinubu felt the pains and the struggle in the country, that’s why he’s doing this across all boards, but this one is taking place in his home constituency, I mean his ward, Ward F in Alausa, Ikeja.

“At least to show a kind of commitment, a relief for family that will partake in this Ramadan and Lenten time, this is time to show love at this festive period.

“It is a time of love that we need to show commitment to one another and this is what Mr President is trying to do, to spread around that we should all remain committed and focused as Ramadan period have shown and taught us to be,,” he said.

The Ikeja local government vice Chairman said that the people were picked from various groups regardless of political affiliations in the community to ensure residents at the grassroots benefit.

According to him, “the items were for community people, it went for everybody, they were not picked politically, it was done through the Community Development Association (CDA), the ward councillor representing this ward, the religious bodies and through our community leaders, it’s been spread across the board.

“We have 10 kg of rice, we have millo, we have milk, we have salt, we have groundnut oil, Pastas and the likes of all food items, it’s a full package,” he said.

Mr Lawal Ganiyu, the Councilor representing Alausa Ward F Ikeja while given his remarks during the distribution exercise, thanked the president for the food palliatives to the people.

“I want to first thank our President Bola Tinubu because this is his ward, and I want to thank him for the activities and the events that have been taking place throughout the country.

“Today we share the palliative, which is really palliative, to subsidise those that have been lamenting of hunger, to make sure at least little has been given to them to be able to handle what they have at home.

“That is why we decided to call the people of our ward to make sure things have been given to them, because we know we are in the month of Ramadan and Lenten period, so this little package will go a long way.

“It’s not because this is President’s Ward. It’s going on generally, and this is not the first time these things have been done in the ward.

“A lot of programmes have been taking place all over the place. I’m just saying that we appreciate him for making us proud by giving the residents food items at this period,” he said.
