Nigerian billionaire businessman and philanthropist, Femi Otedola, has taken to social media to celebrate his mother, Dame Christine Doja Otedola.
In a heartfelt and humorous tribute posted on his Instagram page on Friday, the former chairman of Forte Oil PLC shared a photograph of himself and his mother in a warm embrace. Otedola jokingly credited his mother for his disciplined lifestyle, noting that her influence remains strong even as he approaches his mid-sixties.
“Happy 94th birthday to my sweet mother, Dame Doja Otedola,” he wrote. “64 years ago, you gave birth to this gentleman. I am still behaving myself because of you.”
Born on April 3, 1932, in Ijebu, Ogun State, Dame Doja was the wife of the late Michael Agbolade Otedola, a former Executive Governor of Lagos State. A devout Catholic, she was conferred with a prestigious Papal Honour by Pope Francis in 2024 in recognition of her dedicated service to the church and humanity.
Femi Otedola, who is currently ranked among Africa’s wealthiest individuals with a Forbes estimated net worth of $1.3 billion, has frequently spoken about the deep impact his parents had on his business ethics and personal values. His recently released autobiography, which details his journey in the Nigerian energy and power sectors, has also climbed to the bestseller list on Amazon.
