*I’m Tired Of Begging’: Stranded Actress Halima Abubakar Cries Out For N25m For Brain Surgery*

Embattled Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has made a desperate, tearful appeal to the public and high-profile Nigerians for financial assistance to undergo life-saving surgery for a brain tumour.

The actress, who has been battling deteriorating health for years, revealed in a series of emotional social media broadcasts that she requires approximately N25 million to cover the costs of the surgery, post-operative aftercare, and basic living expenses.

Speaking from Abuja, where she relocated to be closer to the Turkish Hospital for treatment, Abubakar disclosed that her situation has reached a breaking point. The actress, visibly frail, claimed she was recently evicted from her home after her landlady allegedly rejected a rent payment she attempted to make using funds previously donated for her medical care.

“I have just been evicted from my house. I have been diagnosed with a brain tumour. Yesterday, my caretaker came to tell me to leave. The money contributed for my health, which I wanted to use to pay my rent, was rejected. Do they want me to kill myself?” she asked amidst tears.

Abubakar further explained that her financial reserves were depleted after she spent N9 million in October last year to fund her mother’s hernia surgery—a debt she says she is still struggling to clear.

In her latest distress call, the actress specifically named several prominent individuals, seeking their intervention. She called on:

Seyi Tinubu, son of the President

Addressing skeptics who have accused her of “performing” for sympathy, Abubakar was blunt: “Only a mad person would lie about being sick. It is embarrassing and heartbreaking that people think I am lying. I am ashamed to do this, but it is my only option.”

In a move of solidarity following her public outcry, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has officially lifted the indefinite suspension placed on her in October 2024. The outgoing National President, Emeka Rollas, announced the decision during a handover ceremony in Abuja, stating that it would be “wicked” to leave her without a means of livelihood during such a critical health crisis.

Abubakar, whose career spans over two decades with more than 250 films, had initially announced her retirement from acting in 2022 to focus on her healing. She is currently seeking support for both the brain tumour surgery and a separate procedure related to her spleen.
