A former Secretary to Imo State government (SSG), Barr. Uche Onyeagucha, has raised the alarm over sealing of his campaign office in the state.

Onyeagocha, who is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Imo East senatorial district also accused governor Hope Uzodimma of allegedly masterminding the exercise.

The former House of Representatives member highlighted this in a release made available to newsmen by his special assistant on media, Prince MacDonald Enwere, in Owerri, Imo State.

In his reaction, the commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Declan Emelumba, stressed that the governor, Hope Uzodimma has no hand in the travails of Onyeagocha.

He advised Onyeagocha to follow due process and desist from dragging the Governor into the matter.

Part of the release said, “this proscribed daredevil army invaded and sealed off the said Campaign Office which is under renovation.

“When they were accosted by some indigenes at the site, one of the operatives of the fearful looking squad ordered people to steer clear of the building area because their “mission is politically motivated.

“After Sealing up the building, the team which had instilled fear in innocent passers-by who scampered for safety immediately left.

“We are well aware that such despotic shenanigan is another onslaught by Governor Uzodimma, who had only about a week ago sponsored a failed protest against Hon. Onyeagucha for allegedly sponsoring insecurity in Omuma, the Governor’s hometown and other places in the state.”

“After the failed sponsored protest Governor Uzodimma’s Ebubeagu have been used to seal-up Onyeagucha’s Campaign Office, a family house that was built in 1977 and demanded for building permits as well as other paperwork. Discerning minds have reasoned that Gov. Hope is merely scheming at importing insecurity into the Owerri Zone.

“The Governor should desist from playing with the Lion’s tale. Indeed, Gov. Uzodimma is ill-advised, if he thinks that such a lame onslaught will deter Hon Onyeagucha from speaking out and exposing his inadequacies in state governance. Such advice is another summit of irrationality.”

Onyeagocha stressed that he cannot be intimidated by Uzodimma’s mere Peacock “garagara” and draconian bravado.

He said if Governor Uzodimma likes, let him seal up every house, belonging to the opposition in the state. “No amount of intimidation and harassment will change the direction of the wind already blowing in the state. His antics will continue to fail as usual.”

“As we have continued to tolerate and give a calm disposition to his excesses, Governor Uzodimma should be very careful not to further escalate the already frenzied state of insecurity in the Orlu Zone and elsewhere. We will not stand by and watch him orchestrate and implement insecurity in the Owerri Zone”.
