A tranquil Friday morning in Kano turned into a horrifying scene as Hafsat Surajo, widely known as “Chuchu” on Instagram, allegedly fatally stabbed her business partner, Nafi’u Hafizu.

The police apprehended Hafsat and her husband after Nafi’u’s family members, who travelled from Bauchi to Kano for his burial, expressed suspicion regarding the circumstances of his death. The couple had informed them that he died due to illness.

The shocking incident has sparked speculation on social media, especially on Instagram, where Hafsat and Nafi’u were often depicted as having a strong bond similar to siblings.

The details surrounding the incident are chilling. Hafsat claimed that she acted in self-defence during a struggle with Nafi’u, resulting in multiple stab wounds and his tragic demise. In a state of apparent rage and while admitting to grappling with depression, she left the scene to seek medical attention for her own injuries, leaving Nafi’u dead in a pool of blood.

Realizing the severity of her actions, Hafsat contacted her husband, Dayyabu Abdullahi, who returned home to a shocking aftermath. Abdullahi, according to his account, sought help from family friend Malam Adamu to handle the situation.

Malam Adamu, speaking to the press, initially hesitated but felt compelled to assist the couple under duress, as Hafsat allegedly threatened self-harm if he refused. He covered the stab wounds with a cloth and prepared the deceased for burial.

The Commissioner of Police in Kano, Muhammad Hussaini Gumel, assured the public of a comprehensive investigation. Once completed, Hafsat Surajo, Dayyabu Abdullahi, and Malam Adamu will face legal consequences for their involvement in this tragic event.
