Insurance companies, under the auspices of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) have vowed to continuously support Guild of Marine Surveyors members to ensure insurance potentials in the nation’s marine sector are fully harnessed.

Speaking on ‘Championing Professionalism and Competence in Effective Service Delivery’ at the 2nd Monday Ogadina  annual memorial lecture, held at the weekend in Lagos, the director-general, Nigerian Insurers Association(NIA), Mrs. Yetunde Ilori, charged the Guild to live above board, esteemed professionalism and good competence while offering their services.

To her, members of the guild play a great role in marine insurance business, hence, they should be good ambassadors, representing insurance firms and other partners faithfully in marine underwriting.

Earlier, the president, Guild of Marine Surveyors, Wale Adetoro, said the intention of the lecture series, is to uphold the legacy of  Monday Ogadina’s contributions and outstanding support to the existence of the Guild of Marine Surveyors, adding that, Ogadina stood for excellence and perfection which he tried to incorporate into all members of the guild before his demise.

‘We all shared in his dreams and for as long as the Almighty spared our lives, we will keep the flag flying,’ he posited.

Adetoro submitted that the guild is currently made up of 63 corporate and 12 individual members and implored the public to patronise registered members to guarantee quality and effective service delivery.
