Chairman of Ndokwa West local government area of Delta State, Chief Obi Nzete, has said inter-tribal marriage promotes patriotism, unity and oneness.

He stated this last Sunday during the burial of the late Mrs Philomena Alumona, (Nne Neku), at Ogbe-Ogume, Ndokwa West local government area.

He said the deceased was widely regarded as a mother figure whose advocacy transcended ethnic and regional boundaries.

Nzete, represented by his vice, Hon. Margaret Anu, commended the commitment of Madam Alumona who hailed from Abeokuta, Ogun State, maintaining that she was a patriot, socialite and woman of the people who used her life to serve God and humanity.

While advising his family to draw closer to Christ, who had called their mother home, he said the renowned counselor devoted her life to mentoring younger generations, noting that her contributions to the family and the development of the community would remain indelible.

He extended his heart-felt condolences to the families of the deceased, particularly to the Totoro, Abeokuta, Ogun State and Umu-Oshiogbe in Umu Nkwoi of Ogbe Ogime and Umu Onyemali of Umu-Chime, Ogume both in Ndokwa West, Delta State.

“Mrs Philomena Alumona remained a strong voice for the people of Ogun and Delta states and Nigeria at large. Her contributions to justice would continue to inspire future generations”, Nzete noted.

In a sermon and prayers at the ceremony, Pastor Ben Ogelika, called on all creatures to prepare for death on a daily basis, stressing that death was a must for all mortals.
