GBFoods Empowers Young Girls In STEM

In recognition of the International Day of Women and girls in science, GBfoods, a leading multinational consumer goods company, has inspired and empowered young girls to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

This is even as the consumer goods company, hosted an engaging science-focused event at Eva Adelaja Girls Secondary School in Bariga, Lagos state.

The event, an integral part of GBfoods’ commitment to fostering inclusivity and supporting the girl child, featured engaging activities, inspirational sessions, and speeches meticulously crafted to kindle the students’ curiosity and passion for science. GBfoods representatives, through sharing their valuable insights and experiences, motivated the girls to pursue careers in STEM fields.

The marketing director at GBfoods, Oreoluwa Atinmo, recounted her journey as a science student and a female in STEM before successfully transitioning to Marketing.

She encouraged the students and reiterated GBfoods’ unwavering commitment to contributing home-grown solutions to global challenges. “At GBfoods, we foster a well-balanced society that champions inclusivity, innovation, and excellence. We are dedicated to supporting and encouraging you to become better innovators in society,” Atinmo posited.

The factory manager at Gbfoods, Chidozie Denis, urged the female students to demonstrate diligence and perseverance in their pursuits for success, while extending an invitation to the students, encouraging them to gain insights from practical science examples through an educational excursion at the Gbfoods factory.

In a demonstration of GBfoods’ commitment to advancing science education, the company donated a range of support materials to the school’s science laboratories. These materials include laboratory coats, meter rules, a life-sized laboratory human skeleton, laboratory cabinets, beakers, and other essential lab equipment, all aimed at enhancing science classes at the school. Furthermore, GBfoods donated some of their household products like Gino tomato paste, Gino party jollof tomato seasoning mix, Gino max seasoning cubes, Gino curry, and Gino thyme to the school kitchen.

Distinguished attendees included HR director at GBfoods, Stephanie Omobuwajo; marketing director at GBfoods, Oreoluwa Atinmo; Gbagada factory manager Chidozie Denis; corporate affairs & communications manager, Tokunbo Aderibigbe; production assurance lead, Susan Olotu; the principal, Eva Adelaja Girls Secondary School, Mrs. Soyoye, vice principal, Eva Adelaja Girls Secondary School, Mrs. Ladipo and female students and teachers of Eva Adelaja Girls Secondary School.
