The Foundation for Peace Professionals (PeacePro) has called on the European Union to adopt a stance similar to the United Kingdom’s amid the ongoing US –Israel–Iran war.

The group highlighted Britain’s cautious approach, prioritising defensive support, legal scrutiny, and diplomacy over offensive military action.

The executive director of PeacePro , Abdulrazaq Hamzat during an interview with LEADERSHIP in Ilorin, Kwara State, said “Britain’s approach demonstrates the importance of restraint, legal clarity, and diplomacy.

“We urge the European Union to follow this example, prioritising negotiation and multilateral engagement over military escalation that could deepen human suffering and destabilise the region.” Hamzat said.

Hamzat added that the UK prime minister Keir Starmer’s position marked a clear improvement over past leadership approaches, such as Winston Churchill’s, and could redefine Britain’s role on the global stage as a diplomat and stabiliser.

He stressed that the EU and other global actors must fully consider humanitarian impacts, international law, and long term peace when responding to the crisis.

Hamzat maintained that the UK and Europe should lead the call for global peace, rather than being drawn into war without clarity, input, or direction.
