In a significant announcement, Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has released a statement addressing ongoing tensions between him and the club.

The news comes shortly after Isak was honoured with a place in the 2024/25 PFA Premier League Team of the Season, a recognition he expressed pride in despite the current circumstances.

In his statement, Isak extended gratitude to his teammates and supporters at Newcastle, highlighting the camaraderie and support he has received throughout his journey. However, he clarified his absence from the award ceremony, stating, “With everything going on, it didn’t feel right to be there.”

The crux of Isak’s message revolves around his discontent with the club’s handling of certain promises made to him, suggesting a breakdown of trust that he believed has made it impossible for him to continue in the current relationship with the club. “When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can’t continue,” he said, emphasising the need for change that he argued was in the best interests of all parties involved.

Isak’s statement comes after a period of silence during which he felt that others had spoken on his behalf, misrepresenting the reality of the situation. “I’ve kept quiet for a long time while others have spoken,” he noted, signaling his frustration with the narrative surrounding the issues at hand.
