Islamic Scholars Dare West On Same-sex Marriage, Others

Islamic scholars in Nigeria have condemned lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ), sexual orientation saying it is evil and that it is also against the teachings of Islam.

They also lamented the marginalisation of Muslims in appointments in Tinubu’s administration, stating that they were solidly behind the Muslim-Muslim ticket but it is now more of a Christian-Christian affairs.

The clerics argued that all the major are appointments have gone to Christians.

They spoke at the national conference organised by the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria with the theme: “Matters arising from 2023 elections and associated socio-economic challenges” held at the National Mosque, Abuja.

One of the scholars and the executive director of Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), Prof Ishaq Akintola, said LGBTQ is one of the issues that exposes the evil of the West.

He said, “The West tell us that we should marry only one woman and the same West their men go about having tens of concubines, that same one woman they said you should marry experience divorce.

“And 80 percent of hundreds of marriages in the West are shattered. Children demonstrate indiscipline of the highest order. Imagine a lady of maybe 18-20 years, probably from America or so went to court to sue her parents for bringing her into this world without her consent. So, we should be accessing the West from this angle that what kind of morality is the West preaching? LGBTQ, man to marry man and woman to marry woman.

“There are certain countries in the West today that are looking for ways to boost their population and yet they are talking about LGBTQ and they want us to legitimise it. It is satanism, it is not civilisation but those signs are mentioned in the Bible: Isaiah Chapter 4, that the end of the world would come before the world will come to an end and it corresponds with the signs Islam also sees about the end of the world.

“If the world is for men to be marrying men and women to marrying women, how would those who are mulling the idea would come into the world? Now, it is coming with blackmail and they are telling the rest of the world that those who reject LGBTQ would be punished. I think it is the tyranny of the powerful nations over the weak ones,” he said.

Also, the deputy secretary Nigeria’s Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, Prof Salisu Shehu, noted that LGBTQ is spreading fast because of the influence of information and communication technology, especially social media. He lamented that the youths are more atone to social media.

He added that it is spreading especially among the youths very rapidly and “we have to be proactive.”

“It effects on society generally whether you are a believer in any religion or none religion we should appreciate the fact that LGBTQ is a monumental unprecedented sexual perversion that has the potent of destroying humanity in its entirety.

“It is going to designate human varieties. There is nothing that come to the human that is as evil as the LGBTQ.
