Governor Malam Umar Namadi has reaffirmed his commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy in Jigawa State. He presided over the State Executive Council meeting, where several projects and programmes were approved in line with his 12-point Agenda to make the State more prosperous and developed.
Renovation And Construction Projects In Tsangaya Schools
The State Executive Council has approved the sum of ₦869,638,271.18 for renovating additional structures in 7no. Model Tsangaya Schools and the construction of 30 Recitation Halls and 30 Reading Shades across traditional Tsangaya schools ensure one project per state constituency.
These projects are expected to significantly improve access to quality Islamic education and provide conducive learning environments for thousands of Almajiri pupils. Also, a step towards remodelling and integrating Tsangaya education for effective human capital development.
Annual Scholarship
The Council approves the sum of ₦1.5 billion for 22,388 returning students at 83no. Tertiary Institutions within and outside the State.
The bursary allowance program continues His Excellency’s strategic Agenda to foster access to quality education, reduce financial burdens on parents, and empower Jigawa’s youth to attain academic and professional excellence.
The approval covered 13,622 male and 8,766 female students, reflecting the administration’s inclusive approach to supporting educational aspirations across gender deserving beneficiaries for the 2024/2025 Academic Session.
Fertiliser Subsidy
The State Executive Council has approved the release of N396,000,000.00 for the payment of fertiliser allocated to the State by the Federal Government. The special intervention is part of the federal government’s efforts to cushion the effects of the rising fertiliser cost and boost food production nationwide. A total of 20 trucks of NPK fertiliser (12,000 bags) have been allocated for the 2025/2026 Dry Season Agricultural Programme.
This development is in line with Governor Umar Namadi’s administration’s unwavering commitment to agricultural transformation, specifically supporting smallholder farmers, increasing access to critical farm inputs, and enhancing food security across the State.
Vocational Education
The sum of ₦835,008,875.00 was approved for the implementation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at: 4no.selected Centres of Excellence (Dutse Model, Santami, SSS Kafin Hausa, Bamaina Academy, 6no. Government Science and Technical Colleges and 7no. Skills Acquisition Centres located in: Hadejia, Kazaure, Ringim, Gumel, Babura, Birnin Kudu and Dutse. Similarly, the 4no. Tertiary Educational Institutions (Bilyaminu Usman Polytechnic Hadejia, Polytechnic for Information and Communication Technology, Kazaure, State Polytechnic Dutse and JICORAs Babura).
This is part of the state government effort to revitalising the education sector through practical, skill-based learning that meets both local industry needs and global standards.
The approval for the consultancy and management services will ensure quality assurance, efficient project delivery, and alignment with international best practices in technical and vocational education a core component of the administration’s 12-Point AgendaAgenda, particularly in promoting human capital development, job creation, and economic empowerment through technical skills and vocational training.
Establishment of 5 Micro Finance Bank
Council Approves Move to obtain License for takeoff of Five New Microfinance Banks to Deepen Financial Inclusion in Jigawa State
The proposed Microfinance Banks will be established in: Birniwa, Gujungu – Taura, Guri, Gwaram and Kaugama LGAs
aims at promoting financial inclusion as a tool for poverty reduction, local enterprise development, and grassroots economic empowerment.
Solar Powered Project
The Council has approved the award of contract for the technical audit, critical assessments, and planning of solar installations across critical social institutions in the State.
The sum of (₦733,122,187.23 approved for the contract that is in line with the federal government objectives of the State Interventions Solar Solution (SI-SS) Programme, which is designed to expand solar electrification to critical institutions such as education, healthcare, and other essential public facilities across Nigeria.
The technical audit and planning phase will provide a comprehensive assessment of energy needs, infrastructure suitability, and implementation frameworks for the deployment of rooftop solar systems in selected schools, healthcare centres, and other vital public institutions across Jigawa State.

The State Executive Council has approved the award of contracts at the sum of Seven Hundred and Seventy Nine Million, Two Hundred and Sixty Nine Thousand, Eight Hundred and Ninety Five Naira
Supply of Teaching Materials For Basic Education
The sum of N779, 269, 895.00K was approved for the supply of critical teaching and learning materials, as well as mobility support for school supervision.
Theses includes: 68,850 textbooks, 700 whiteboards, 3,000 cartons of erasable markers, 295 motorcycles (Hunter model) for use by School Support Officers (SSOs) across all 27 Local Government Areas of the StateState for improving learning outcomes.
Salary In Crease For Temporary Teachers
The Council approved the increase of the allowances of 1,100 J-Teach from ₦30,000 to ₦40,000 . It als approves Establishment of Teacher Development Agency The initiative aimed at strengthening the quality of teaching and improving learning outcomes across both basic and post-basic education levels in the StateState.
The State Executive Council has approved the sum of One Hundred and Sixty Two Million Naira (N121,950,000) only for the 3 months extension of the Free Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) Services covering ( Pregnant women, Children under 5 years and accident victims across the 27 Local Government Areas of the State
. Increase Beneficiaries of Social Health Insurance to 287,000
The sum of N1,000,000,000.00k was approved as an equity funds for the beneficiaries of the state Social Health Insurance, mainly children and less privilege and elderly persons, as the Council further approved increment in the number of enrollees from 500 to 1,000 per political ward this translates to increase of beneficiaries from 143,000 to 287,000.
This is inline of the government effort to ensure access to basic healthcare services to everyone in the StateState in respect of his economic status or geographical location.
The state commissioner for information Youth Sport and Culture Hon Sagir Musa reiterated the commitment of the Governor Umar Namadi administration to improve the social and economic life of Jigawa people at all aspects.
