Jigawa Speaker Emerges Chairman Of APC State Assembly Speakers

The Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, has been elected chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Dangyatin emerged as Chairman during the group’s annual congress and election of new executive members, held in Abuja.

The political group was established to coordinate Speakers of State Assemblies elected under the APC platform, to champion and promote the party’s philosophy, work together for the party’s victory, and advance sustainable democracy, peace, and progress in Nigeria.

Other executives elected during the congress include the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly as Deputy Chairman (South), the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly as Deputy Chairman (North), and the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly as Treasurer.

The six Zonal Vice Chairmen elected at the conference include the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, for the South-West zone, and the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly for the North-Central zone, among others.

The newly elected executive members of the Progressive Speakers’ Conference will be sworn in on Monday, 9th February 2026.

In a message, Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, congratulated Rt. Hon. Haruna Dangyatin, describing his election as well-deserved.

In a press statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Governor Namadi added that Dangyatin’s election comes at a crucial time, as the party prepares for the general elections.

The governor expressed confidence that Dangyatin will bring his wealth of experience and commitment to strengthen coordination among APC members, ensuring an overwhelming victory at all levels in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
