Rock legend Jon Bon Jovi was forced to cut short his concert at Madison Square Garden in New York on Thursday after revealing he was not well enough to continue performing.

The 64-year-old singer had been performing the eighth show of his nine-night residency at the iconic venue when he brought the performance to an unexpected end shortly after delivering the band’s classic 1986 anthem, Livin’ on a Prayer.

Addressing the crowd, Bon Jovi apologised to fans, saying they were not getting his best performance because he was hurt. He also urged concertgoers to keep their ticket stubs, assuring them that plans would be made to reschedule the affected show.

Before leaving the stage, the It’s My Life hitmaker told the audience he would have to call it a night, despite insisting he otherwise felt fine.

In a statement issued after the concert, Bon Jovi’s representatives confirmed that the show ended after about 90 minutes. They explained that the singer had been battling a sinus infection, which ultimately forced him to end the performance earlier than planned.

The statement added that Bon Jovi had repeatedly expressed how much he had enjoyed returning to the stage during the Madison Square Garden residency, noting that further updates regarding the interrupted concert would be announced soon.

Following the news, many fans took to social media to send the rock star well wishes, with several hoping he makes a speedy recovery ahead of the final show of the residency.
