Former Chelsea and Arsenal star Jorginho has gone viral on social media, not for his football prowess, but for a scathing attack on pop singer Chappell Roan. The Italy international alleges that the singer’s security guard reduced his 11-year-old daughter to tears during a “very upsetting situation” at a hotel in São Paulo, Brazil.

The 34-year-old midfielder, now playing for Flamengo, shared his account on Instagram. He claimed his daughter, a devoted Chappell Roan fan, had made a sign for the Lollapalooza music festival where the singer was headlining. While having breakfast at a nearby table, his daughter reportedly recognised Roan, smiled, and returned to her seat without interaction.

Jorginho described the subsequent events as “completely disproportionate.” He stated that a large security guard approached his wife, Catherine Harding, and daughter “in an extremely aggressive manner,” accusing them of “disrespecting” or “harassing” the singer.

“He even said he would file a complaint against them with the hotel, while my 11-year-old daughter was sitting there in tears,” Jorginho wrote, adding that his daughter was “extremely shaken and cried a lot.”

The footballer, who has played 57 times for Italy and won the European Championship in 2021, emphasised his understanding of public attention. However, he stressed: “I understand very well what respect and boundaries are. What happened there was not that. It was just a child admiring someone.”

He concluded his impassioned post with a direct message to Chappell Roan: “WITHOUT YOUR FANS, YOU WOULD BE NOTHING. AND TO THE FANS, SHE DOES NOT DESERVE YOUR AFFECTION.”

The BBC has approached Chappell Roan for comment, but she has yet to respond to Jorginho’s claims.
