Japan Tobacco International (JTI) Nigeria has restated its intention to continue operating in Nigeria and contributing to the country’s economic activities.
The company has operated in Nigeria for 18 years. It said its operations involve its employees, business partners and other stakeholders.
The General Manager of JTI Nigeria, Mr Abdallah Simba, stated this while commenting on Nigeria’s development and its 66th Independence Anniversary.
Simba said Nigeria remains an important market for JTI and that the company’s continued operations reflect its view of the country’s economic prospects.
He said JTI’s business practices focus on corporate conduct, compliance with regulations, employee development and engagement with stakeholders.
“Our commitment to Nigeria goes beyond our business operations. As Nigeria celebrates the important milestone of its 66th Independence, we recognise the importance of operating an enterprise that contributes to the country’s development and creates value for our employees, partners and stakeholders,” Simba said.
He said JTI Nigeria’s operations are based on corporate governance, ethical business practices and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Simba also discussed the company’s workplace policies, including professional development, diversity, equal opportunity and respect among employees.
He said corporate responsibility is important for businesses in regulated industries, where compliance, transparency and accountability are required.
As Nigeria responds to changes in its economic environment, Simba said the country has the capacity to create opportunities for business activity.
He said JTI Nigeria would continue its operations, maintain relationships with stakeholders and contribute to Nigeria’s economic objectives.
