The Junior Chamber International (JCI), Aso, has called for more women in political offices and leadership roles to enhance gender equality.
Addressing newsmen yesterday in Abuja, JCI president, Yetunde Adebisi, underscored the pivotal role of women in shaping communities and nations, emphasising the strides made toward gender equity.
She made the call at the commemoration of the International Women’s Day 2024 in Abuja, with the theme: “Inspire Inclusion.”

Adebisi highlighted the transformative power of women’s participation in various fields and the importance of empowering them to contribute to societal progress.
She said the celebration served as a poignant reminder of the journey towards gender equality, acknowledging the achievements of women while also calling for continued efforts to overcome barriers to inclusion.
On her part, the chairperson of the committee for International Women’s Day, Miss Patience Ezekiel, said the focus on combating gender-based discrimination, resonating strongly with the emphasis placed on the urgent need for action to ensure the full participation of women in all aspects of society.
Ezekiel urged collective action towards fostering inclusion, asserting women’s capability to drive societal success.

Also, the North Central regional coordinator of the YALI RLC Alumni Association of Nigeria, Ifeakandu Ume, who was represented by the national president of the YALI RLC Alumni Association, Hameed Abiodun, underscored the significance of diversity in driving social progress and economic development.
She highlighted the resilience, achievements, and ongoing struggle for gender equality.
She noted that IWD is a day to recognise the progress made while also acknowledging the challenges that still lie ahead.

Ume said the theme for this year, inspiring inclusion, resonates deeply with their shared commitment to fostering a more equitable and inclusive world.
She urged participants to champion the cause of inclusion and equality in their respective spheres of influence.
