JUST-IN: 30 Feared Dead As Mining Pit Collapses In Niger

No fewer than 30 persons were feared dead when a mining pit collapsed in Galkogo village of Shiroro local government area of Niger State.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the incident occurred late Monday night and that one dead body had so far been evacuated while six persons were rescued with injuries.

The State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Hussein, confirmed the incident, but the State’s Ministry of Mineral Resources was yet to issue any official statement on the incident.
