A raging fire has gut the popular Alaba Market in Lagos with shops and goods worth multi-million Naira destroyed on Tuesday evening.

In a viral video on social media, a live TikTok broadcast by a user KB Clothings showed the inferno spreading to other parts of the market, with some shop owners wailing while calling for help.

While some were in shock and lamenting the loss of their goods and properties, others made attempts to salvage what they could before the flames spread further.

Operatives of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service were also seen at the scene battling to contain the blaze, as it was still raging as of the time of filing this report.

As at the time of filing this report, no official statement has been released by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
