Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Wednesday, presented a N705.794 billion 2026 appropriation bill to the State House of Assembly.

In the budget christened “Budget of Economic Transformation,” Adeleke presented N317.41 billion as recurrent expenditure, representing 45 per cent of the total budget. At the same time, the sum of N388.37 billion is earmarked as Capital Expenditure, at 55 per cent of the budget.

The governor expressed commitment to building a robust and diversified economy capable of navigating contemporary challenges, adding that the budget estimate leveraged on Osun’s diverse economic potential.

According to him, the budget was targeted at fostering sustainable growth, promoting equity, and strengthening resilience through pragmatic and inclusive policies.

Adeleke stressed that it has been the determination of his administration from inception to take Osun to an enviable height through infrastructural and human capital development.

“It is important to state that our major focus is to complete all ongoing projects across the state, and embark on new ones where critically essential,” he said.

Reflecting on the 2025 budget, the governor stated that his government had completed over 75% of the road infrastructure projects initiated by his administration, assuring that no project would remain uncompleted.

Earlier, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun commended the governor’s prudence in financial management, “especially under the constraints arising from the withholding of Local Government allocations by the Federal Government since March 2025.”

He added that, despite these challenges, the Adeleke-led administration has consistently met its obligations, maintained developmental projects, and safeguarded workers’ welfare, serving as a testament to visionary and responsible leadership.

The Speaker assured the governor that the Assembly will conduct careful legislative scrutiny to ensure that the budget reflects the hopes and aspirations of the people of Osun State.
