The protesters, under the aegis of the ‘Take It Back’ Movement were also protesting against the declaration of state of emergency in Rivers State as well as the alleged misuse of the Cybercrime Act by the Nigerian Police.

They had accused the Police of using the Cybercrime Act to to target activists, journalists, and social media influencers in the country.

LEADERSHIP observed that trouble started when the policemen, who had stationed their vehicles in front of Isaac Boro Park, Port Harcourt, ordered the protesters to disperse from the venue but the protesters vehemently refused to leave, insisting that it was their constitutional right to stage peaceful protest.

Speaking to journalists after the incident, leader of the ‘Take It Back’ movement in Rivers State, Amaye King Amaye said the group will regroup to ensure that the voices of Rivers people were heard.
