Recall that, President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, had highlighted in a statement that Tinubu’s participation in the World Leaders’ Summit on December 1 and 2, 2023, will involve delivering a national statement outlining Nigeria’s stance on critical thematic issues like renewable energy and climate financing..

He will also participate in a number of sideline events, including discussions on attracting foreign direct investment for climate action and on implementing Nigeria’s Energy Transition Plan.

The Nigerian delegation to COP28 is also expected to explore opportunities to establish new and deeper bilateral partnerships to facilitate the implementation of Nigeria’s climate change initiatives.

Ngelale said these collaborations were intended to facilitate the implementation of Nigeria’s Energy Transition, Article 6 Projects, Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes, Technology Transfer, Capacity Building, and Methane Mitigation initiatives.

The President is being accompanied to the COP28 summit by some of his top aides, ministers, governors, and lawmakers, among others.
