Managing director of the Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA), Dr Abdullahi Baba-Ahmed, has said the ongoing road projects across Kaduna State will strengthen Governor Uba Sani’s chances of re-election in 2027.

Governor Sani, who was elected in 2023, is expected to seek a second term in 2027 under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

While hosting a youth group on Monday, Baba-Ahmed said the administration’s urban-rural renewal initiative has delivered the dividends of democracy to residents across the state.

According to him, the construction of over 140 road projects spanning about 1,335 kilometres within three years is unprecedented, not only in Kaduna State but across the entire northern region.

He added that more than 60 per cent of the projects have already been completed, assuring that the remaining ones will be delivered before the end of the administration’s first term.

Baba-Ahmed also noted that no area has been left out in the execution of the projects, with some rural communities experiencing the impact of government for the first time in decades.

“More than 140 road projects spanning about 1,335 kilometres are currently ongoing across Kaduna State, with about 60 per cent already completed,” he said.

He further explained that under Governor Sani’s leadership, strategic road corridors have been initiated and completed to reconnect communities and stimulate economic growth.

“Across the three senatorial districts of Kaduna State, key road corridors have been conceived, initiated, executed, and completed. These roads are now easing movement, strengthening local commerce, and reconnecting communities that previously faced accessibility challenges,” he added.

Baba-Ahmed described the 35-kilometre Gadar Gayan–Gwaraji–Maraban Kujama asphalt road, which includes a 130-metre bridge across River Kaduna and passes through 76 farming communities, as a historic and legacy project that meets the long-standing needs of residents.

He said Governor Sani completed the project within two years of assuming office, noting that many of the benefiting communities had never experienced even a one-kilometre road project before.

“When Governor Uba Sani assumed office, about 12 local government areas had never witnessed the completion of a one-kilometre road project. Through his commitment, he broke that jinx by awarding and completing projects such as the Gadar Gayan to Kujama road, linking Igabi and other communities, including 76 farming settlements,” he said.

He further stated that positive feedback from residents reflects strong public support for the administration.

“The response to these laudable, high-quality, and durable projects has been overwhelming. The people of Kaduna State will reciprocate this gesture by massively re-electing Governor Uba Sani in 2027,” he said.

Some of the completed roads include the Magajiya–Amaru–Unguwan Liman Road, Audi–Kako Road, Tudun Biri Road, Durum–Kuruntumawa Road, Pambegua–Kauru Road, Gadan Gayan–Kujama Junction Road, and the Madauchi–Madakiya–Kafanchan Road.

Others are the Gadan Gayan–Kujama Junction Road via Gwaraji, the Durum–Kuruntumawa asphalt road in Makarfi, as well as the Magajiya–Kasuwan Amaru and Audi–Kako asphalt roads in Zaria.

Speaking on behalf of the youth group, the convener of the KADA Agenda, Abdullahi Umar, commended the KADRA boss for ensuring timely delivery and quality execution of the projects.

He also praised the agency’s commitment to supervision and quality control.

“With the kind of projects executed, we are confident that victory will be assured in 2027,” he said.
