A South East cultural pressure group, Igbo Union (IU), has asked the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to zone the Senate President seat to the South East.
The group however specifically said former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North Orji Uzor Kalu should be given the position because he marketed the APC same faith presidential ticket when other party members were confused.
President of the group, Prince Elias Odoemena, after a meeting in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State on the matter, stated the only currency used in paying back love is love.
Odoemena said, “Orji Uzor Kalu has shown love to All Progressive Congress (APC) and Tinubu and it is now their turn to return and reciprocate the same love to Orji Uzor Kalu.”
Odoemena said Kalu is the oldest member of the National Assembly being a member of Nigerian fourth Assembly when he served in the then House of Representatives under Agunwa Anakwe as Speaker.
“The only thing that stays with a man is the experience he gathered. Zoning the Senate president to Southeast because of Kalu will not be too much from Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC.
Odoemena dismissed unconfirmed news that the APC and Asiwaju Tinubu were going to make Kalu the Senate House Leader.
The group also congratulated the new President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.
“We believed that a man like Iwuanyanwu, who contributed a lot with his God-given resources to the development of Igboland will use his wealth of knowledge in doing many things for the progress and development of Igboland.”
