The bill was passed into law after it was considered in the committee of the whole House and given third reading during plenary, which was presided over by the speaker, Hon. Ismail Falgore.

Briefing journalists on the newly passed bill, the majority leader of the House, Hon Lawan Husseini, explained that, when signed into law, the agency will provide aid to the most vulnerable, less privileged, and aged people and also render assistance to citizens in the areas of health, education, and job creation.

He noted that the agency would be headed by a director general who is experienced in social services and a board of trustees with representation from the humanitarian, budget and planning, justice, and youth ministries as well as partner representatives.

Hon. Husseini however pointed out that the agency would impact the lives of citizens and reduce the rate at which people go on air soliciting for financial assistance to pay either registration fees, hospital bills and other minor operations.

Falgore, has congratulated Governor Abba Yusuf, who was nominated for the Best Governor of the Year Award in Education by the Telegraph Newspaper, as well as the African Governor of the Year 2025 award, by African Leadership Magazine.

He said the awards are a true reflection of the governor’s unwavering commitment to education and the general well-being of the people in the state.

Falgore reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to supporting the governor in sustaining the progress in education and other critical sectors for the development of the state.
