Kano Former First Lady, Ladi Bako, Dies At 93

Widow of the first military administrator of Kano State, Hajiya Ladi Audu Bako, is dead.

Her daughter Zainab Bako, who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Kano yesterday, said the 93-year-old widow died at Prime Specialists Hospital in Kano during a protracted illness.

Her funeral rites will take place at the Emir’s Palace, Kofar Kudu, Kano, at a time to be announced later.

Some residents of the state described the deceased as a very religious, gentle woman and a caring mother.

Her late husband, Alhaji Audu Bako, was appointed military governor of the old Kano State from May 1967 to July 1975.
