Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State yesterday charged the residents to intensify prayers for peaceful coexistence and divine protection against rising insecurity in some parts of the state.
He made the appeal during a special prayer session organised by the state government at the Government House in Kano.
Yusuf described prayers as the strongest weapon against evil and those who plot harm against humanity. He urged religious leaders to continue championing prayers for lasting peace across the state.
The governor expressed concern over recent banditry in some parts of the state, describing the incidents as “strange” and stating that Kano required divine intervention to overcome the emerging the emerging security challenges.
Also speaking at the event, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, appealed to the residents to redouble their fervent prayers for sustainable peace and stability in the state.
The prayer session featured the recitation of the Holy Qur’an and special supplications led by prominent Islamic scholars.
